Mooresville, NC (July 28, 2014) – TriStar Motorsports is excited to announce that NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, Hal Martin will be back behind the wheel of the No. 44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry this weekend at Iowa Speedway. This will be the “Ragin Cajun’s” second start at the 7/8-mile asphalt paved tri-oval speedway.

“It’s an honor to represent American Custom Yachts again this season behind the wheel of the No. 44 Toyota Camry for TriStar Motorsports,” said Hal Martin. “I can’t thank Mark and Kathy Smith enough for giving me another opportunity to drive for them. I am looking to build off of the experience I gained racing at Iowa Speedway earlier this year and hope for a strong finish for both TriStar Motorsports and American Custom Yachts.”

Mooresville, NC (May 7, 2014) – TriStar Motorsports is excited to announce that NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, Hal Martin will be back behind the wheel of the No. 44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry next weekend at Iowa Speedway. This will be the “Ragin Cajun’s” first Nationwide Series start at the 7/8-mile asphalt paved tri-oval speedway.

“I am excited and honored to be back behind the wheel of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry,” exclaimed Hal Martin. “This will not only be my third season with TriStar Motorsports but also my third season partnering with American Custom Yachts. Mooresville, NC – October 8, 2013 – Martin and crew of the no.44 ORACLE Lighting Toyota Camry had high hopes entering the Kansas Lottery 300 event. However, colder temperatures, lack of grip in the track, and a loose handling car spelled disaster for Martin’s much anticipated return to Kansas.

How was it returning to the track at which you made your NASCAR Nationwide Series start?

“I was really excited to race on this track again. It’s actually one of my favorite tracks on the NASCAR Nationwide series circuit” Martin replied. “My car was handling well for qualifying and we put up a decent lap time. I had high hopes for the race, but when I went to make a move in the second groove in turn 2, the track just had no grip, not to mention the colder temperatures didn’t help. Mooresville, NC- September 10, 2013 – Martin and the crew of the no.44 U.S. Forensic Toyota Camry team had high hopes returning to Richmond International Raceway. However, luck was not on their side. An ill handling car from the start of the race resulted in a disappointing 30th place finish for Martin and crew.

This was the first track in which you’ve made a second start as a NASCAR Nationwide Series driver this year, how was the race for you?

“Disappointing to say the least” Martin replied. “From the drop of the green flag, my car just would not cooperate. We fought an unbalanced car all evening. The car wouldn’t rotate the middle of the corner causing it to be loose off of the corners.”

“I’m happy to have U.S. Forensic on board as a primary sponsor for this upcoming race” Martin replied. “When I graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, I worked as a forensic engineer at U.S. Forensic in New Orleans, LA under Gary Bell, Mike DeHarde, and Bill Jankowsky for two years. Charlotte, NC- May 6, 2012 – It is common knowledge amongst NASCAR drivers, crews and fans alike, anything is possible in superspeedway racing. This was proven evident this weekend, both with unseasonably cold and rain filled weather and with the racing itself. Martin and the crew of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team were optimistic that their newly acquired MWR chassis would have a strong showing at Talladega. Despite qualifying in 32nd position, Martin and crew were able to move into 12th place quickly. Then, on lap 19, Martin received front end damage as he reacted to a spin involving other drivers. His knowledgable crew were able to make repairs in the garage area; however, the repairs cost Martin and crew valuable time on track and resulted in a 34th place finish.

Charlotte, NC- April 30, 2013 – The excitement in the air is palpable as Martin and the TriStar Motorsports crew of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry complete final preparations on their racecar and begin the journey to Talladega. Martin last competed at Talladega Superspeedway in the ARCA Series in 2010 where he received a 10th place finish and again in 2011 where an accident ended his efforts early.This weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event will be Martin’s first time racing in Talladega as a NASCAR Nationwide Series competitor.

Martin is looking forward to the opportunity to race, as a NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, on the track that he and many fellow Louisiana natives consider their “home track”.

Charlotte, NC- April 29, 2013 – Martin and the crew of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team traveled to Richmond, VA for Martin’s first NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Richmond International Raceway. Despite difficult handling characteristics both in testing and during the race, Martin and crew under the masterful direction of crew-chief Greg Conner were able to take home a top 25 finish.

This was your first time competing at Richmond International Raceway, how was it?
Martin stated, “I was looking forward to race on another short track and Richmond International Raceway did not disappoint. I felt like I was going back to my roots of short-track racing. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to put the power down coming off the corners as the banking drops off. There is really nothing like racing on a high-speed short track.”

Charlotte, NC- April 22, 2013 – Following an early race transmission failure at Texas Motor Speedway, Martin and the crew of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team are ready to tackle Richmond. Martin and crew are looking forward to the test session on Thursday and plan on utilizing this time to dial the car in for Friday night’s race as well as give Martin an opportunity to learn the layout of the track.
